MPR II (Glaux 8, Falghera)

Martini, R. Monetazione provinciale romana II: Collezione Winsemann Falghera. Glaux 8. (Milan, 1992).

Roman Provincial Coinage II: Collection Winsemann Falghera. 6 vols.

Volume 1: Augustus - Vitellius
Volume 2: Vespasian - Commodus;
Volume 3: Septimius Severus - Severus Alexander
Volume 4: Maximinus - Aemilian
Volume 5: Valerianus - Aurelian and then semi-autonomous.
Volume 6: Index and tables.

The volumes are all arranged according to region. What is annoying is that the coin legends are all in lower case Greek, which is actually ridiculous, as they don't appear like that on the coins, do they? (SNG Cop and von Aulock do the same). Each volume has an average of 55 pages of plates.

Volume 6 contains an index of Greek legends (lower case), Latin legends (lower case); Punic legends translated into sort-of Latin; a list of dates on coins of Alexandria e.g. "L-(year, lower case), a list of emperors (with cities), magistrates and kings, some countermarks (spelled out), countermark short descriptions, monograms, a list arranged as emperor-region-mint, a list arranged as Mint-city-emperor, a "Types" index, a short list of Homonoia mints, a short list of bibliographical abbreviations (e.g. Web = Weber), then tables of emperors with the mint name, coin number, and 14 columns of the most popular sources (Mionnet (#1 yeah!!), BMC, Macdonald (Hunter), McClean, Weber, SNG Cop, SNGvA, SNG Mun, SNG Tübingen, SNG Leypold, Lindgren, Ziegler, Ashmolean and RPC, so you can check down the mint column, then across the line to see in which reference works that coin is listed. Finally there is a list of Howgego countermarks and some corrections according to the previous volumes.
